Pirates Party
Theme |
| The pirate party theme is a fun theme that hurls kids into a fantasy world of pirate ships and buried treasure. The theme can be fun for both boys and girls, but will probably appeal more to boys. The great thing about this theme is that it's easy to find reasonably priced pirate themed bits and pieces for the party at department stores, dollar stores, and online. |

- Play 'Pin the eye patch on the Pirate', 'Pin the 'X' on the Treasure Map' or 'Pin the Parrot on the Pirate's Shoulder'. These games are all really simple to make - just print a large picture of a pirate or treasure map, and an eye patch, 'X' or parrot and play the game in the same way you would play 'Pin the tail on the donkey'. Whoever pins it closest to the correct part of the picture wins.
- Have a treasure hunt, with clues, and box or chest full of 'treasure' goodies at the end.
- Have a pirate themed 'pass the parcel' where the layers contain pirate
stickers, eye patches, temporary
pirate tattoos, pirate
stamps, and gold chocolate coins as prizes.
- Play 'Peg leg race' - just like a three legged race.
- Play the Pirate
Ship Bean Bag Toss Game.
- Buy or make a pirate
pinata.
- Play 'Cannon ball stomp' - fill the party room with black balloons and let the pirates stomp on them until they burst. Make it even more fun by adding 'treasure slips' to some of the balloons so the pirate with the most slips gets a prize.

- Make mini hotdogs and stick pirate flags in them (which are so easy to make - just print little mini pirate flag pictures and glue them onto toothpicks).
- Make individual 'blood' red jellies with a gold chocolate coin in the top (similar to a 'Frog in the Pond' jelly).
- Have fish nuggets, or fish and chips - to match the pirate sea theme.
- Make red 'blood' non alcoholic punch by adding red food coloring to the drink.
- Make sandwiches and cut them into pirate shapes using a pirate
cookie cutter set.
- Have a 'Parrot food' tray of fresh nuts and raisins and dried fruit.
- Have gold chocolate coins scattered on the table as treats.

- Make a rectangular slab cake and draw a scull using black edible icing or use chocolate buttons to outline the shape of a skull. Alternatively, buy an edible
pirate picture and place it on top of the cake. You could even top it off with some pirate
themed cake candles.
- Make pirate
cupcakes. These are a simpler alternative to a full size cake, and if you don't want to make your own cupcake toppers you can buy lots of themed bits and pieces such as pirate-themed
baking cups and cupcake
picks.
- Make a pirate ship cake. This can be made easy with using a pirate
ship cake kit. Alternatively search for 'pirate ship cake' on the internet to get lots of ideas for some simple bake at home cakes.
